Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TubeLayout heat exchanger design software

General Questions

What is TubeLayout intended for?

TubeLayout is an agile tool designed to assist in the mechanical design of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Its primary purpose is to answer the fundamental question: "How many tubes can fit into a prescribed shell size?"

Can I use TubeLayout for thermal design?

No. TubeLayout does not predict heat transfer performance or perform thermal calculations. However, it calculates essential geometric data (such as flow cross-sections and ρv² values) that are crucial inputs for your thermal design calculations.

Technical & Export Options

Can I export the layout to an image file?

Yes. You can export layouts to PNG (raster image) or SVG (vector graphics). The SVG format is particularly useful as it can be further edited using free tools like Inkscape or LibreOffice Draw to create professional engineering diagrams.

Is CAD export supported?

Yes. The layout can be exported to a DXF file, which is compatible with most CAD programs (like AutoCAD, LibreCAD, etc.) for further integration into your documentation.

Licensing & Access

How do I obtain TubeLayout?

TubeLayout is available via a simple annual subscription. Visit our pricing page to subscribe. Once payment is confirmed, you will receive an activation link to set your credentials and access the download area.

Do I need an internet connection?
